Sterling Trucks manufactured medium and heavy duty trucks for over thirty years. Sterling Trucks announced it would discontinue production of heavy duty trucks, medium duty trucks, and light duty trucks in 2008. Sterling is adamant about thanking their customers who remained loyal throughout the years. While Sterling discontinued Sterling dump trucks and other trucks manufacturing in 2009, proprietary Sterling parts will be available until 2019. This allows drivers to make repairs to their Sterling truck with matching Sterling parts. As Sterling parts run out, drivers will need to replace parts with other manufacturer’s truck parts. Sterling model trucks available for sale include the Set-Back A-Line, Set-Back L-Line, Set-Forward L-Line, and the Acterra. As a medium duty truck, Sterling dump trucks have a steel cab and a powerful Cummins diesel engine. Western Star dump trucks and used Freightliners are comparable to these truck models. The Freightliner Cascadia and Coronado models also compare highly to the Sterling truck models.
